Rideshare pickup

Toronto designates three rideshare/taxi zones (not the stadium gates, which sit inside a closed perimeter): Douro Street (~10-min walk), Front St W & Bathurst St (~15-min), and Lamport Stadium (~10-min). Walk north into Liberty Village afterward to escape the 2–4× post-match surge.

Public transit

GO Transit’s Lakeshore West line runs from Union Station to Exhibition GO (a 2–5 min walk to BMO Field) in ~7 minutes for about $3–5 CAD. From Pearson (YYZ): UP Express to Union (28 min), then GO to Exhibition. The TTC 509/511 streetcars also reach the Exhibition Loop.

Traffic to expect

Lake Shore Blvd W (Bathurst to British Columbia Rd) and Strachan Ave close ~5 hours before kickoff, and there is zero public parking at Exhibition Place on match days — FIFA’s stance is simply “no parking.” Liberty Village is local-traffic-only with police at 18+ intersections.

Local match-day tips for Toronto

  • From Pearson, UP Express → Union → GO Lakeshore West to Exhibition beats the streetcar — faster and less crowded, especially for Canada’s June 12 opener.
  • Liberty Village (King St W between Dufferin and Strachan) is the closest neighbourhood outside the closure perimeter, with lower rideshare surge.
  • There is no parking — FIFA and the City have confirmed it. Take GO Transit or the TTC.
  • The FIFA Fan Festival at Fort York is walkable from BMO Field, so the whole area is packed on every match day.
