Vancouver World Cup 2026 — Airport to BC Place

BC Place is right in downtown Vancouver and hosts Canada twice. SkyTrain is one of the easiest transit links at the tournament — but Pacific Boulevard out front is closed to vehicles for the whole World Cup, so a pre-booked ride or the train is the way in.

Rideshare pickup

Two official taxi/rideshare zones — not BC Place’s front door (Pacific Blvd is closed to vehicles all tournament): 1510 Quebec Street (near Science World / Main Street–Science World Station) and 525 W 2nd Ave (near Olympic Village Station). Request from Yaletown or Mount Pleasant afterward for lower surge.

Public transit

SkyTrain is excellent here — but use Main Street–Science World Station, NOT Stadium–Chinatown (its stadium exit is closed on match days). The Expo Line runs every ~2 minutes; from YVR take the Canada Line to Waterfront, then one stop east. Fare is ~$10 CAD from the airport (2-zone + AddFare).

Traffic to expect

Pacific Boulevard (BC Place’s north face) is closed to all vehicles from May 23 through late July, and Granville St is a pedestrian zone June 11–July 20. False Creek neighbourhoods are local-traffic-only on match days (residents need an access pass).

Local match-day tips for Vancouver

  • Exit at Main Street–Science World, not Stadium–Chinatown — the latter’s stadium-facing exit is closed on match days.
  • From YVR, the Canada Line to Waterfront then one Expo Line stop east is ~40–50 min; allow 60+ for Canada’s June 18 and 24 matches.
  • Yaletown is the closest pre/post-match neighbourhood — reserve tables early on Canada match days.
  • Canada plays twice here (June 18 vs Qatar, June 24 vs Switzerland) — the highest-demand, highest-surge days.
